Meeting in downtown San Francisco on the first weekend of each month, each self-contained Story Weekend session offers in-depth writing exercises, actor readings of your work, and group critiques to help you develop a play or screenplay in progress. Sign up for one, two, or three workshops each quarter.

While the Winter Quarter is sold out, the wait list is still open and Weekend Passes are still available for all three sessions. A Weekend Pass lets you follow along during writing exercises, observe scene readings and critiques, and see who we are and how we work.

STORY WEEKEND
Winter Quarter: January 7-8, February 4-5, and/or March 3-4
To help you develop your play or screenplay, this monthly series of intensive weekend workshops offers a blend of creative and analytical activities, including in-depth guided writing exercises, actor readings and group discussions of your scene work, and the opportunity to participate in our New Writers/New Works staged reading series.

The workshop is designed for experienced writers who are currently working on a script project and want guidance, feedback, and support. Beginners and other observers can participate by purchasing a Weekend Pass that lets them follow along during writing exercises, and audit scene readings and critiques.

You can sign up for one, two, or all three weekends per quarter. Or purchase a Weekend Pass that lets you observe workshop activities. Each weekend includes:

SATURDAY
10 AM - 1 PM	Scene Writing. Step-by-step guided writing exercises to spark new discoveries about your characters and story. Arrive with a rough idea of what might happen next in your script and leave with a completed scene.
1 - 2 PM	Lunch break
2 - 5 PM	Scene Reading and Analysis. Actor readings and group critique of a scene that you wrote before this weekend and want to evaluate.
SUNDAY
1 - 2 PM	Story Development. Global writing exercises to help you analyze and clarify the "big picture" of your story.
2 - 5 PM	Scene Reading and Analysis. Actor readings and group critique of either a second scene that you wrote before this weekend or the new one from the Saturday session

Location in San Francisco: Phoenix Theatre Annex, 414 Mason Street (near Geary), Fourth Floor. Maximum enrollment: 12 writers.

Tuition is $180 for one weekend. Weekend pass for observers: $60. Note: Returning workshop members can enroll in either or both weekends with a $90 deposit. The minimum deposit for new applicants is $180. Discounts are available if you enroll in more than one workshop during the same quarter (see table).

TUITION PAYMENT PLANS
Your deposit is part of your tuition payment. The remaining balance is due - in full - by the beginning of your first workshop session. If you sign up in advance for all three weekends in the same quarter and wish to extend payment over time, tuition payment plans are available.

Following is a sample plan for a new applicant who has pre-enrolled in the Three-Weekend Quarterly Package with a $180 deposit and qualified for the $70 series discount.

WEEKEND PASSES
If you are beginning writer or just wish to observe without presenting work, you can purchase a Weekend Pass that lets you observe Story Weekend activities.

You can learn a lot by following along during writing exercises, observing scene readings, and listening to group critiques. It's also a chance to meet Bay Area writers, actors, and directors who approach script development from a professional perspective.
